Project S.A.F.E. (Syringe Access for Everyone)

Syringe exchange is offered by Project S.A.F.E. It’s a comprehensive prevention program for people who inject all types of substances including insulin, steroids, vitamins, heroin, cocaine and other street drugs.

If you need free, clean works, Project S.A.F.E. staff will assist you with full confidentiality and complete customer service. One-for-One exchange, safe disposal of used syringes and harm reduction materials (cotton, caps, alcohol wipes) are some of the prevention services offered.

Need information about safe injection and overdose prevention? Our staff will personally educate you with the latest information and techniques. All services are FREE and participation is anonymous.

Are you having problems in your community with needles? Project S.A.F.E. will provide all the materials necessary to safely dispose of used syringes found in your neighborhood.

Project S.A.F.E. is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm.



Education programs

BART (Becoming a Responsible Teen)

Being a teen in this day in age is tough. There are lots of choices to make, and even more conflicting messages when it comes to touchy subjects like sex and drugs. BART is training for teens ages 14-19 that provides you with the skills needed to make informed choices and clarify your own values. You’ll learn techniques like how to use a condom correctly, how to get out of unwanted situations involving drugs and sex, and even ways to negotiate safety with a potential partner.

SISTA Project (Sisters Informing Sisters about Topics on AIDS)

Over 50% of women living with AIDS are African-American. The SISTA project was developed by African-American women to address the unique issues that effect woman of color regarding HIV/AIDS. Topics that are covered include:

POL (Popular Opinion Leader)

Are you a natural leader? Do people seem to come to you for advice because you’re always “in the know”? Is so, we want you! We’re looking for people to train to help encourage their friends and social networks to practice safer sex. These “conversations” are low pressure, but scientifically proven to be effective.

Safety Counts

Safety Counts is a support group designed specifically for active drug users out-of-treatment. It is intended to help reduce the transmission of HIV through high-risk drug use and sexual activities. Group meetings, social events, and one on one counseling are key to accomplishing goals. Participation is free and confidential, and staff is committed to the theme, “Safety Counts and so do you!”
